Background

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Service (MDHHS) has a commitment to reduce food insecurity, improve health and promote healthcare opportunities by increasing access to nutrition-related services for eligible Medicaid populations. Starting with the 2025 Medicaid Health Plan contracts, MDHHS has introduced four (4) nutrition-focused In Lieu of Service (ILOS) opportunities. These services include the following, and their definitions can be found in the MDHHS CHCP ILOS Policy Guide:

  • Medically Tailored Home Delivered Meal.
  • Healthy Home Delivered Meal.
  • Healthy Food Packs.
  • Produce Prescriptions.
